CC1, MT1, MT1 Vac or BG1: which Pudu cleaning robot should you choose?

At Fractal, we almost always recommend one of four Pudu cleaning robots. The right choice comes down to three questions: what type of floor, what type of cleaning (dry sweeping, scrubbing, or both) and how large an area. Here is how we decide between them.

The rule in short

• Dry sweeping on hard floors: the Marc MT1 (and the MT1 Max for the most industrial sites).
• Dry cleaning wherever there is carpet: the MT1 Vac.
• Scrubbing, or scrubbing and sweeping, of a small to mid-size area: the Carl CC1 Pro.
• Scrubbing large areas: the BG1, paired with an MT1 or an MT1 Vac when sweeping is also needed.

Carl CC1 Pro: the all-rounder

The CC1 scrubs, sweeps and vacuums. It is the choice for corridors, dining rooms, stores, schools and hotels where you want a washed floor, not just a swept one. As a guide, it covers about 9,500 sq ft per hour (700 to 1,000 m²/h), which suits areas up to about 33,000 sq ft per cleaning session. See the Carl CC1 page.

Marc MT1: the large-debris sweeper

The MT1 picks up dry debris on hard floors — concrete, tile, stone — in warehouses, factories, indoor parking and large stores. It sweeps about 16,000 sq ft per hour (1,500 to 1,800 m²/h). See the Marc MT1 page.

For the most demanding sites, such as parking garages and semi-outdoor spaces, the 3D-perception MT1 Max raises the pace to about 23,000 sq ft per hour. See the MT1 Max page.

MT1 Vac: as soon as there is carpet

The MT1 Vac is a high-capacity robotic vacuum. As soon as part of your floors is carpeted — offices, meeting rooms, hotel corridors — it is our recommendation for dry cleaning: for dry-only cleaning, it outperforms the CC1. It covers about 15,000 sq ft per hour. See the MT1 Vac page.

BG1: the large-area scrubber

The BG1 sweeps at the front and scrubs at the back, in a single pass. It is the robot for large areas that need scrubbing: distribution centres, factories, big-box stores. It covers about 21,000 sq ft per hour. For very large spaces, we combine several BG1s and add an MT1 (or an MT1 Vac if there is carpet) for sweeping. See the BG1 page.

How many robots do you need?

We count about 3.5 hours of cleaning per session for each robot. So we divide the floor area by what one robot covers in 3.5 hours: about 56,000 sq ft for an MT1 and 73,000 sq ft for a BG1, for example. Beyond that, we add a robot.

What about the return on investment?
