Hotel Monville, a Canadian pioneer in hotel robotics, entrusted Fractal Robotics with modernizing its room service. We integrated Walton, an autonomous delivery robot capable of taking the elevator on its own and calling guests directly in their rooms.

An inspiring story and returning to our roots
Hôtel Monville holds a very special place in the heart of Fractal Robotics Solutions. In 2018, it became the very first hotel in Canada to deploy a room service delivery robot.
For our founders, who are passionate about robotics, this innovative initiative was a true source of inspiration that even contributed to the creation of the company. It is therefore with immense pride that our team was chosen to replace this historic first robot with a significantly upgraded version: our Walton delivery robot.
Affectionately renamed H2M2 by the hotel staff (a nod to R2-D2 and the initials of Hôtel Monville), the robot has been in operation since January 2026. By its second month of operation, it was already breaking the delivery records of its predecessor!
A 100% autonomous delivery process
H2M2 is primarily used to deliver meals, snacks, third-party orders, or complimentary items (towels, soap, etc.). The process is simple, seamless, and entirely autonomous:
- The guest contacts the front desk or the restaurant to place an order.
- The employee calls the robot via its app, loads it, and selects the destination room.
- The robot navigates autonomously, calls the elevator, and boards it without any human intervention.
- Upon arriving at the door, the system rings the room's telephone to notify the guest.
- The guest opens their door, taps the robot's touch screen, and the compartment opens to hand over their order.
- The robot then automatically returns to its charging station on the ground floor (in case of an issue, it contacts the front desk on its own).
A major technological upgrade
According to Valentin, Director of Operations at Hôtel Monville, the transition to our robot was fast and the improvements are major.
Unlike the old system, H2M2 offers increased capacity (up to 4 simultaneous deliveries or 2 large deliveries), which now makes it possible to deliver full meals instead of adapted menus.
Navigation is smoother, the employee interface is more intuitive, and previous issues with stopping in the elevator have completely disappeared. Furthermore, the hotel team greatly appreciates the local aspect of Fractal Robotics, which ensures fast and accessible support.
An undeniable Return on Investment (ROI)
With an operating cost of around $25 per day, the robot pays for itself extremely quickly and provides added value in three key areas:
- Revenue generation: Low-cost room service has boosted restaurant sales, and order values have increased by over 20%. New services, such as late-night snacks, are now possible.
- Staff support: The robot absorbs time-consuming back-and-forth trips, allowing operational teams to focus on higher value-added tasks.
- Powerful organic marketing: Robot delivery creates an incredible element of surprise. Guests who order simple complimentary items (like a charger or a dental kit) are so amazed that they often call the front desk back for a second order, simply to be able to film the experience and share it on social media!
